  • 3/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cream of tartar
  • 1 cup Butter (softened)
  • 1 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 3 Egg Yolks
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Sugar (for rolling)
Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Salted Butter
  • 1 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/4 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method

Sugar Cookies
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
  2. In an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. It typically takes 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Once fluffy, add in egg yolks one at a time. Then the vanilla extract.
  4. Turn the mixer off and add the dry ingredients to the top. Mix slowly for 30 seconds to one minute.
  5. Use a cookie scooper to scoop the cookies in dough balls. Take the balls and roll them in sugar then place them on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Cream Cheese Frosting
  1. While baking, make the cream cheese frosting! In a stand mixer, mix the cream cheese and butter until smooth. Approximately 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Add in the maple syrup and vanilla.
  3. Add in the powdered sugar half a cup at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
