I have always loved granola bars, but when I developed my treenut allergy, I lost the ability to eat them. The same was true with protein bars; I used to eat half a protein bar in the morning and half in the afternoon. I went about two years with no bars; it sucked! When I finally found a brand I could have, it ended up being so expensive.

Once I started making my own homemade granola, I thought homemade granola bars couldn’t be much harder. I took a few recipes, pulled them together, and created the recipe for my own homemade granola bars.

Homemade Granola Bars

These are a great way to make granola bars if you have food allergies or if you are looking to save money on all of the snacks!
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Cooling Time 1 hour
Servings: 12 servings
Course: Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cups Rolled Oats
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2/3 cup Butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 2 tbsp Brewer's Yeast
  • 1 tbsp Flaxseed
  • 1/3 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Desired Topping (Chocolate Chips, Oreos, etc.)

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven to 350 degrees and line one (or two if you want to make 2 different flavors at a time) with parchment paper. Then spray with non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, butter, honey, brown sugar, brewer's yeast, flaxseed, and vanilla.
  3. Separate into two bowls evenly if you are making two flavors. If not, skip this step.
  4. Add in one cup of your preferred toppings to eat bowl (or 2 cups of the topping if you are only doing one flavor). I normally do one batch of chocolate chips and one batch of oreos at the same time.
  5. Spread the mixture into the pan and press the oat mixture down.
  6. Bake for about 20 minutes or until it is golden brown.
  7. Let it cool for about an hour, cut it into bar size, and store in plastic bags for snacktime or school lunches.
